Leptin Sensitivity
When our bodies become leptin resistant (the opposite to leptin sensitive), our leptin levels become too low and the brain thinks the body is starving. This further leads to the brain sending multiple signals to the body causing an increased appetite, an increased food intake leading to weight gain (1). Improving leptin sensitivity has also been linked to benefits such as having antidiabetic effects on our body, due to leptin’s ability to improve our body’s glycemic control (2).
