Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin that is mainly found on the hands.

Causes
There are two main causes of dermatitis which are irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis. Irritant contact dermatitis occurs when your skin comes into contact with an irritant. The irritant damages the outer layer of your skin, which can cause redness, itching, burning or stinging(source www.your.md).
Allergic contact dermatitis is when your immune system reacts abnormally having come into contact with an allergen. During an allergic reaction, the immune system can attack healthy cells and tissue as well, which is what causes your skin to be sore and inflamed(source www.your.md).
Most people can manage the symptoms of dermatitis, but there can sometimes be complications, such as infections. The symptoms of dermatitis can be severe and last longer than expected for some people, which could affect their ability to do their job if they work with their hands.
