Gallstones

Gallstones are solid like pebbles mainly made up of cholesterol and sometimes calcium. They are found in the gallbladder and bile duct that leads to the liver.

Symptoms

  • Strong pain (often in the stomach or back)
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

Causes

There are two main reasons why you may get gallstones. The first is if there are unusually high levels of cholesterol inside the gallbladder, the excess cholesterol gradually solidifies to form a stone. The second is if there are abnormally high levels of bilirubin inside the gallbladder.
