Wheatgerm Oil

Wheatgerm oil is extracted from the wheat kernel it is very potent and dark in colour and has some excellent health benefits, it can be used in cooking on veggies or salads but also topically for use on the skin. Usually, if it is used on the skin it is mixed with other skin boosting oils to compliment it affects,  your daily requirements of vitamin E can be found in 1 tablespoon of this oil.

What are the Benefits?

Wheatgerm oil is rich in antioxidants which help to protect our bodies from oxidative stress caused by free radicals in our cells. “This process plays a major part in the development of chronic and degenerative illness such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, ageing, cataract, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases”.(1)

Inflammation

Because of its antioxidant action, it could help with inflammation problems such as arthritis because it can reduce the free radicals in our cells which can cause the inflammation. (2)

Wheatgerm oil is particularly good for your skin

It is rich in several vitamins including A, D, and B but also in antioxidants and fatty acids. “These nutrients not only moisturise and heal dry or cracked skin, but they also help prevent scarring,” says Caryn Anderson from Livestrong. (3)

Because it contains Vitamin E which is essential for reproduction it could improve the reproductive system, which can help with fertility and to prevent impotence due to the properties of tocopherol which is a form of vitamin E.
